What is the Lone Wolf C.C.?

We are a group of both old and new friends that share one common interest, old cars with loud pipes. Street Rods, Customs, Muscle Cars, or Stock, we like ‘em all. And we drive ‘em, no trailored cars please. Trophies and contests are fine, but we get our kicks from driving.

In Memory of Ned Fenice

Lone Wolf C.C. member and friend Ned Fenice is no longer with us, but his memory will not fade. While we will all miss Ned, our loss is Heaven’s gain.

Member Updates.......

Congratulations to Larry and Elmer, official members of the 1999 Hot Rod Power Tour West "Long Haul Gang"! Larry and Elmer drove and ate their way across country. From Columbus to San Bernadino to Nashville, they made their way across the U.S. and along old Route 66. God Bless America, hot rods and the internal combustion engine.  Unfortunately both of them have ruthlessly sold the fine cars that took them across the country.

Casper (Keith & Carla’s ‘57 Nomad) received a new rear frame with the assistance of ace welder Tony Fenice.  John and Keith installed a new wiring harness last winter and the Nomad made it to several car shows including the "Double Date" show and the "Rib Feast" show last August in Barbourville, KY.  Keith installed a 456 rear end and tested it by making a Goodyear deposit in front of Dick's Brake & Muffler.  Keith returned from the 2001 Goodguys meet with a set of dual quads he hopes to install in the future.  When the dual quads are installed along with the 456 rear end select what will blow the first time he launches it: (A.) The T-5 transmission, (B.) His quarter panels, (C.) Two gallons of Bondo™, (D.) The lower end of his 350, or (E.) All four!  Keith also horse traded for Larry's '67 El Camino and  has started a rumor that it may soon be powered by a 454!  On a fashion note, Keith has finally come out of the closet.  He confesses to wearing bib overalls for several years in private, but has just recently started to wear them in public.  Actually Keith looks quite dapper in his "bibs".

Dr. Bill is still busy (between other jobs) with his 1957 four-door sport sedan. Last fall the doctor had sprayed it "Wilson" black, and had the drive train installed (small block Chevy, of course, with a 350 turbo).  The car was lookin' mighty fine last time I checked, but will it make its' debut at the 2001 Duck Tail run?  Check out the progress photos and details of this COOL ‘57 on the next page (Member's Cool Rides).  According to Nurse Paula, 90% of the body was delivered one piece at a time by UPS.

First Elmer sold his '37 Ford, then his 40 Ford sedan (this was the car that took him across the country on the Hot Rod Power Tour).  His next car, a fine '39 Oldsmobile coupe was sold at the 2000 NSRA Nationals in Louisville.  He finished up a '56 Ford pick up last year with a big block Chevy (which IS for sale).  Elmer's new project is a '39 steel Ford coupe.  Elmer plans to stuff this with a Ford motor, but last time I heard he was still looking for some GM parts.

Larry's search for 5 liter Mustangs ended when he spun a bearing in the El Camino.  He replaced the 327 with a 350 block and traded it to Keith.  He also sold "Humpy", the very fine '49 Chevy sedan delivery that took him across the U.S. on the 1999 Hot Rod Power Tour (go figure)!  His new ride is a '65 Impala SS convertible (can you spell BIG?).  Last year Dr. Bill stuffed it with a fresh crate 350 and swapped the tired powerglide with a 350 turbo.  After cashing in Andrea's college fund to buy parts, chrome and glass the SS is starting to look pretty good.

John tore the "Love Bandit" down in 2000 and made several modifications.  Custom painter Doug Oatley shaved the turn signals and repainted the hood and fenders.  John installed a painless wiring harness, a stainless steel firewall cover, custom Hagen headlights with built in turn signals, a hot 350 HP cam, repainted the under-hood cowl and engine compartment, replumbed the AC and probably a few other items he can't remember.  The "Love Bandit" finally came together in time for the 2000 Duck Tail and James Dean run.  John made a trek to the 2001 NSRA spring run in Knoxville last May and reports that the car ran strong, fast and way cool!

Our newest member Doug Oatley has a very fine '40 Ford coupe that looks very, very nice.  He does have some muffler problems, they are too QUIET!  We're hoping that when he heads North to the Goodguys Nats in July that Larry or Keith will remedy that situation.  Doug is also in the very early process of building a '48 Ford pickup.

Mike Wallace got his '48 Ford coupe finished in time for the 2000 Double Date car show.  Finished out in a 50's theme this flathead looks very nice.  Mike uncapped his pipes for the Duck Tail run and the flathead sounded pretty sweet.
